The Mount Dora holiday season, can be described as stepping into a Hallmark Holiday Movie or The Gilmore Girls. There is magic as you stroll through over 2 million lights in Donnelley Park. Explore the many store windows decorated in their holiday best and stores bustling with shoppers. Then there is the Mt Dora Marina with another several hundred lights sparkling on Lake Dora’s water.  In Sunset Park, you can also catch the rock’in Christmas tree light show, There are so many incredible events and activities that happen throughout December, for you to experience the Mt. Polar Express Train Ride throughout December – This magical experience takes you and your children to the North Pole on board an actual train ride that recreates THE POLAR EXPRESS™ movie. You will have your golden ticket punched by the conductor, experience the dancing chefs who will serve cocoa and a tasty treat, interact with the hobo and other characters from the movie, along with enjoying a reading of the classic children’s book THE POLAR EXPRESS™ by Chris Van Allsburg.

Upon arrival at the North Pole, Santa Claus and his elves will climb aboard and visit each family. Each child will receive a silver bell from Santa’s sleigh as the first gift of Christmas.

After a rousing series of Christmas caroling, you will return to Tavares and reality with a renewed sense of Christmas joy. THE POLAR EXPRESS ™ Train Ride is a Warner Brothers licensed, music filled theatrical recreation of the movie that has become a Christmas tradition.

November 24th 30th Annual Light Up Eustis | 5:30PM | Ferran Park

November 25th 36th Annual Mt. Dora Light Up | 5:30PM | Donnelley Park – Join us for the lighting in Donnelly Park and downtown Mount Dora with over to 2 million sparkling lights! Don’t miss this spectacular show with traditional Christmas Songs, dancers, and more. The event is free and open to the public.

December 1st  25th Annual Merchant Walk | 6PM – 9PM |Downtown Mt. Dora – Make dinner plans and choose from several of the downtown restaurants.  Then enjoy this family-friendly holiday street party, complete with live music, Santa & two reindeer, Ana & Elsa, fireworks, shopping and millions of holiday lights.

Select dates throughout December  Sydonie Mansion Holiday Tour – Don’t miss the Sneak Peak Holiday Tour opportunity to see the adaptive restoration of the Sydonie Mansion once referred to as “the most significant residence in Florida”  Amy and Clark Frogley, owners and care takers of Sydonie Mansion, have been working tirelessly to restore the mansion back to it’s glory.  They are opening the doors of their amazing residence to experience the Mansion decorated for the holiday season.

December 1st-3rd Victorian Steampunk Christmas & Holiday Market @ Renningers | 9AM-6PM

December 2nd 57th Annual Christmas Parade | 10:00AM – The community parade will travel along Donnelly through downtown Mt.Dora. Everyone is invited to bring can good day for us to collect the day of the parade while they watch. All good goes to Lake Care Pantry.

December 2nd  25th Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade | 7PM – Come enjoy the lighted Christmas Boat Parade on Lake Dora beginning at the Lighthouse Grantham Park (across from Gilbert Park) on Tremain Street and Liberty Street. Local boat owners compete for best in light show display and originally.

December 8th Holiday Art Splash | 6pm-8pm  – The monthly Art Stroll is expanding by inviting artists onto its sidewalks one evening a month for Art Splash.   The Streets of downtown Mt. Dora becomes a vibrant venue for emerging and professional artists, as well as performers.  Art Splash,  organized by Mount Dora Center for the Arts for the second Friday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m.   Visitors are encouraged to come downtown to enjoy the creative energy of the evening.

December 8th Family Movie Nights

Family Movie in Donnelly Park | Eight Below | 6:30pmDecember 9th  Children’s Christmas in the Park with SNOW!  Join us in Donnelly Park for Children’s Christmas in the Park with SNOW and have a chance to go snow sledding in Mount Dora, Florida.

December 17th 5th Annual Mount Dora Half Marathon – The gentle rolling hills of Mount Dora give this course a uniqueness of its own. From the start to finish, you’’ll remember the Mount Dora Half Marathon as the event you will not want to miss.

  1. You should add that on dec 19 and 20, at mt Dora community building the mt Dora school of ballet will be performing the nutcracker. They put on a fabulous show!

    The Weavers of Orlando 2017 Holiday Fiberarts Show & Sale
    Located at Lakeside Inn in Mt. Dora, FL
    December 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, during the Annual Mt. Dora Christmas Walk, The Weavers of Orlando will be showcasing and selling handmade items at the Lakeside Inn located on the corner of Alexander and Third St. Everyone is invited to come by and enjoy the beauty of the one of a kind items on display and for sale, we will be there – 9am-8pm on Friday, 10am-6pm on Saturday, and 10am-2pm on Sunday.
    For many years, the Weavers of Orlando have brought their art to Mt. Dora during the holiday season to display and sell. Some of the items include handwovens, felted goods, wood, glass, knitted and crocheted items. Everything is unique and hand made by the artists.
    The Weavers of Orlando is a non-profit group with members from Florida and beyond We bring the art of weaving, spinning and fiberarts to the surrounding communities through educational programs and demonstrations. In 2017, this Guild is celebrating 75 years of weaving, spinning, and other fiber related crafts. This guild started in 1942 as a group of women getting together in each other’s homes to share the love of fiber and ideas. Throughout 2017 the guild has had displays in several locations and is currently at the Lake Eustis Museum of Art.
    Stop by to watch the artists demonstrating weaving, spinning and other crafts in the lobby throughout the weekend.
